Off Road Adventures
Explore Off-Road run overland adventures on vehicular
rights of way that have been researched with the help of the local councils,
ancient maps and modern ordnance survey maps. The duration of these adventures
may be from 1 day to 14 days or longer depending on the location. During your
adventure you will travel amidst stunning scenery and experience nature and
all her changing moods and faces.
You will be accompanied and guided by one of our instructors in a fully equipped
vehicle, he will be happy to assist you should it become necessary.
Over the years we have gained a vast knowledge of vehicular rights of way
throughout the length and breadth of the country, this knowledge allows us
to plan routes to suit all vehicles including expensive new vehicles.
Explore Off-Road believe in protecting the environment and support the “tread
lightly” philosophy.
Our advice is:
Use only routes with vehicular
rights of way.
Keep to the defined track. Detour only to pass immovable objects or stoppages
and report all blockages to the local highway authority. Make sure that you
know the route if it is not evident on the ground. Keep the speed of your
group down to below 15 mph and travel with a maximum group of six vehicles.
Ensure that you and your vehicle are fully road legal. Remember that when
you are on a vehicular right of way you are bound by the same laws as surfaced
roads.
Observe the four W’s
WEATHER. Do not travel on a vehicular right of way when you risk damaging
the route beyond natural repair when the weather improves.
WEIGHT. Avoid driving routes that may be seriously damaged by the weight of
your vehicle.
WIDTH. Avoid using routes that are too narrow for your vehicle to avoid damage
to trees, hedgerows, and boundaries. Oh yes… and your vehicle.
WINCHES. Use only when unavoidable, your priority should be to avoid damage
to the environment. Should the use of the winch become necessary always use
tree strops where required and safe recovery techniques.
Respect the wildlife of the countryside, it’s their home. Be courteous to
other users including walker’s etc. Take extra care when passing horses, be
prepared to stop your vehicle and turn off your engine. Always leave gates
as you find them and take care when near to livestock.
